Responsible Travel Week, Day #3: Wednesday, February 13
2013 is the fifth year for Responsible Travel Week (February 11-17) and Planeta.com’s 13th year of innovative conferencing. We expect our global conversation to take a great leap forward thanks to inspired participation. This event is free, though financial donations are appreciated!
Day #3. Today’s challenge: Be creative.
Upload a presentation you’ve made and post on Slideshare. Share an album you’ve created on Flickr or Pinterest. Upload a video to YouTube. Tweet an original thought! Today’s technologies and social web platforms make it easier than ever to share your original work with the world.
For those who are hesitant, don’t worry so much about the quality of your photo or video and focus attention on doing something simple. You can always improve your efforts next time, but the journey begins with … the first step.
Let ‘constraints’ enrich your experience. As Vine puts it: “We believe constraint inspires creativity, whether it’s through a 140-character Tweet or a six-second video.”
BTW, today, February 13 is World Radio Day! What’s on your playlist? As many friends know, I’m a big fan of Australia’s Radio National with a schedule that is chock-full of great programs, including First Bite and Off Track that consistently provide insight into local culture and sustainability.
Wednesdays are the day in which we guide friends through the world of member-generated wikis. The star is Wikipedia which just this past month debuted its travel-focused site called WikiVoyage. Tip: check out responsible travel on Wikivoyage. Also, keep an eye on the hashtag #WikiWednesday.
