Inspiring Change Gathering in Cape Town

Cape Town again inspires this year as host of the Inspiring Change Gathering which explores creative ways to take on climate change.

With COP17/CMP7 hosted in Durban in just a few weeks, these critical issues are in the spotlight around the globe. Kudos to colleagues in Cape Town for prepping the discussion in such a creative and encouraging way.

This week’s gathering in Cape Town — Hashtag: #IChangeCT — promises to foster conversations beyond policy in order to point toward new possibilities, moving the discussion away from what must be given up toward what can be created. The event conducted at Cape Town International Convention Centre will be available via livestreaming web and features traditional presentations and Pecha Kucha sessions. After the event there will be carrotmob!

Far away from Cape Town and across the Atlantic I’ll be tuning in via the livestreaming, because, frankly, I want to be inspired! I’ll be getting up early on Friday to watch the afternoon session. I’ll also be tuning in to the twitterfeed and using it to stock a brand new social media chronicle using Storify.

The gathering boasts a compelling group of people coming together for a truly exciting and inspiring few days – including many from around the world connecting virtually. Check out how to participate and meet the participants online, with more being added daily as their registrations come through.

Inspiring Change is hosted by the Cape Town Climate Change Coalition in association with the City of Cape Town, African Centre for Cities at UCT, Cape Town Partnership, Cape Town International Convention Centre, ICLEI, Provincial Government of the Western Cape and is generously supported by Siemens.
