Highlights from Responsible Tourism Week: Carrotmob

Day #5 winds up the 2011 Responsible Tourism Week! For everyone who shared information via Twitter or Facebook or Flickr, many thanks. We have so many examples from around the world. The highlights should be recommended reading, viewing and listening for everyone interested in making travel better for a better world.

You are welcome to continue using the #rtweek2011 throughout the year to tag Twitter posts. If there is interest, we will conduct a follow-up Responsible Tourism Week later this year.  Also, we will support existing responsible tourism events, from 1-day workshops to seminars. Let us know how to be supportive of your efforts.

Word of the Day: Carrotmob

Carrotmob = event where people support an environmentally-friendly store by gathering en masse to purchase the store’s products (not necessarily carrots!). Our challenge: how do we bring the carrotmob to ecotourism, indigenous travel and responsible tourism?
