It’s Easter in Mexico and today is Sabado de Gloria.
I bought a crate of white eggs from Senora Gloria (pictured here) who was aghast when I told her I’m preparing an Easter tradition and that they are to be hard-boiled. “That would hurt!” was her response. Unexpected but understandable.
In Mexico the most common egg tradition is to fill the egg with confetti paper and then plaster it on the head of someone.
For my part, I’m making a few dozen eggs to give away to friends unaccustomed with the U.S. tradition of coloring hard-boiled eggs. Hopefully it won’t be messy and it certainly shouldn’t hurt anyone!
